What is Deine Mutter kommt nach Hause?

While I was working in a local coffee shop, I more and more felt like I wanted to create a story revolving around “food”, and the creation of said food. After Lost Time, I also had the feeling I wanted to write something for a broad audience again. That’s how “Deine Mutter kommt nach Hause” (Your Mother’s coming Home) came to be as a miniseries in five parts for television. The aims were the keep the emotions flowing, hide a family mystery, write from different perspectives and try to keep the production costs as low as possible.

What’s it about?

The sun rises above the sea. Gulls are squawking as they fly by; the waves peacefully crash into the sand. A boy, about seventeen years old, sits in the sand and stares at the water. He is wearing a baker’s outfit. He is crying. Why? And what does it have to do with the text message on his cell phone, saying the titular words: “Your mother is coming home”?
