LOST

I don’t know why, but there’s always one series that really hooks me in. The medium doesn’t matter – I’ve had comics, books, movies and now a TV series. It’s always exactly one thing at a time, and since a few years, this thing has been the wonderful TV series “LOST”.

What makes LOST so nice, is the combination of a character story to tell a mythological one. The thing that gets you hooked, are the characters (and their pasts). The reason you keep watching, is because you want to know what the island is all about. And nearing the end of the show, it’s a little bit of both.

Ever since Season 4 started airing, I’ve been writing Rants on a weekly basis. I write about every single episode – to make sense of things, to make notes for the future. It’s interesting to check the predictions I made way back when, and what did or did not happen later on. I’ve been right, I’ve been wrong… It’s a thrill ride.

If you like stories that are very complicated, build up tension and create enigmatic mysteries, LOST might be something for you. If you want answers immediately and generally have little patience when watching a TV show, this is not the thing you’re looking for. If you’re unsure about what you want, give it a shot. The pilot’s kind of hit-or-miss with most people, but after about ten episodes… you’ll either love it or loathe it.
