What makes a video game a good game? A good video game is a combination of a lot of features – more features than a movie usually has. Some can be lacking, but overall they all have to be there. Up till now, I’ve rarely seen video games pull this off. They exist – some of the rare gems amongst them are in the list below – but they are a bread that is slowly dying. In fact, it’s been slowly dying ever since it first roamed the earth.

Nonetheless, I keep on looking. That’s why my Rants about Games focus on finding the best parts in a video game (be it narrative, gameplay, sound or anything else) and pointing out how it’s done. In comparison to movies or books, this medium still has a while to go until it reaches the stars. But it’s slowly getting there nonetheless…
