What is Lost time?

When I was directing Vlaams Filmpje, I soon noticed that I’ve made some mistakes in writing that play. The mistake that bothered me most, was that Vlaams Filmpje hadn’t really been planned throughout. There were some fixed plot points (the start, the middle and the ending) but in between I just wrote whatever came to mind.

I thought it would be a nice exercise to write something that was very much planned and would be ruined without it. That’s when Lost Time was created (first as a script for a short film, later for a 120 minute feature) – its roots in science fiction but focus on personal drama needed me to think ahead and make sure every scene was linked to another.

What’s it about?

Sara and her three friends Tom, Jacob and Mira spend their weekends together in the local town pub discussing Sara’s relationship with her father, who keeps disappearing at night. When Aaron, an old friend of Sara’s, arrives in the village, he promptly joins the group and helps them find out the truth…

A while later, however, Aaron awakens alone in an abandoned hospital. The world lies in ruins. What happened?
